Training for a Half Marathon

I was challenged by my sister-in-law to run a half marathon with her on October 30th. So today I started my training. I must admit, I haven’t really been exercising lately so I started from square one. I went to the gym, Results Gym & Fitness, to be exact. I am doing a 13 week walk/run program and today was the first day of week one.
Walk Run Program
Today I did a total of 36 minutes on the treadmill doing 2 minutes of walking and then 1 minute of running. I did my walking at 3.0 mph and then my running at 4.5 mph. I am going more for endurance instead of speed at this point. I can always work on speed later on.
The point of walking 2 minutes and running 1 minute is to keep me from burning out. Plus, it also helps me to avoid injury. I am running my my Nike Free running shoes so I can be as close to barefoot as possible.
Basically Starting Over on Diet
I have been eating small things here and there that haven’t really been on my diet. For example, I ate cheesecake. I am starting fresh since it is a Monday and I figured today is better than never for truly sticking to my health goals this time. This morning I weighed in at 145.2 lbs so I am up some from earlier this month.
Instead of dwelling on the past, I am just going to move forward and stick more closely to my Eat to Live lifestyle. The book asks the reader to give 6 weeks of dedication without veering off of it. I have not yet given my 6 weeks, but I am starting today. I am not giving up.

Amy:
You posted a review of the trekdesk on Amazon about 8 months ago. I’m considering a walking desk setup and very eager to hear from others who have actually tried it (ahem, for more than 3 days). I’m especially interested in hearing from people who abandoned it for whatever reason. Life is complex, and so is finding a set of healthy routines that are a joy to maintain. No judgement from me, believe it. I just need a reality check and multiple perspectives. Would you be willing to share your experience with me?
I love my trekdesk. I don’t get to use it as much as I wanted to because my 10 month old wants me to constantly hold him and I don’t feel comfortable having him on the treadmill. If I didn’t have a little one with me all the time i’d use it every time I worked on the computer.
